Types of Membership

There are two types of Yorkshire Play Membership. You can apply for either category depending on which criteria (below) you meet.

If you meet criteria A - D, you are eligible for Associate Membership
If you meet criteria A - E, you are eligible for Full Membership

Full and Associate membership are the same price and offer the same entitlement to all the same benefits and services from Yorkshire Play. The only difference is that only Full Members will be entitled to vote on matters regarding the governance of Yorkshire Play

Membership Criteria

A) I live, work or am otherwise active in the Yorkshire and The Humber Region
B) I am aged 18 years or over
C) I support the right of all children and young people to Play, as proclaimed in Article 31 of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of a Child and the Children's Play Council New Charter for Children's Play
D) I support the aims of Yorkshire Play
E) I am, and for the last 12 months have been, actively engaged in a paid or voluntary capacity in any of the following areas of work:

• Playwork or Playwork Development
• Teaching, Training, Assesment or verification in Play Studies or Playwork
• Commisioning, design, manufacture, installation or maintenance of Play Facilities or Play Areas

Membership Categories

Dual Membership of Yorkshire Play & SkillsActive

Through Yorkshire Play, Playwork employers (I.E Organisations that employ staff or voluteers whose role includes Playwork, as defined by the National Occupational Standards) can also become a member of SkillsActive, the Sector Skills Council for Acive Leisure and Learning, which includes Playwork.

SkilsActive has been established by employers in the active leisure and learning industry to work with employers to help reduce skills gaps, increase the number of well-trained and qualified staff. They can offer a range of benefits including business support & information. Further information can be found at http://www.skillsactive.com/members

The price of a SkillsActive membership is usually £25 + Vat (£29.38 Inc Vat) Per Site, Capped at £250
Associate or Full Members who are playwork employers are eligble for SkillsActive Membership.

Yorkshire Play Only Membership

This option is available to Associate or Full Members who are not employers or choose not to take Dual Membership.

Membership Renewals

Yorkshire Play Membership will be on an annual basis from April to March. We will automatically send out renewal forms before renewals are due. Should you wish to join Yorkshire Play at a later point in the year, an appropriate discount to the annual rate will be applied. Please Contact Us or call 0113 3801706 for details. We will also contact you during the year to ask for confirmation of contact details in order for us to keep our system up to date.

If you take out SkillsActive Membership, they will contact you after 12 months regarding renewal.
