Building a World Class Workforce for Children and Young People
The first interactive CD toolkit to help employers develop their employees in the playwork sector has been produced by SkillsActive.
Inspired by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) Children’s workforce strategy: Building a World Class Workforce for Children, Young People and Families. The CD is designed to guide organisations through six simple stages resulting in a complete workforce development plan.
This toolkit aims to help small, medium and large organisations to build the skills and knowledge of Playworkers, paid or unpaid; increase the chances of accessing public funding for education, training and development; and, most importantly, improve the quality of the play opportunities they provide to children and young people.
Camilla Palmer, national programme manager at SkillsActive said: “As part of our commitment to employers this CD toolkit will effectively result in a comprehensive and complete workforce development plan”
Workforce development is one most important thing that every business counts upon being reliable and effective is their staff. Whether the business is a large multinational or a small, voluntary organisation, the people are what make it work. Everyone responsible for a paid or volunteer workforce will benefit from developing a plan that gets the most from their people and combines the needs and priorities of the business with the personal development of staff and volunteers.
A Workforce Development Plan is a crucial tool in assisting an organisation in focusing on its priorities and identifying funding and solutions for the development, education and training of their workforce. SkillsActive has developed tools and resources for playwork that will allow organisations of all sizes to understand more about what this means to them and how they can complete a plan.
This toolkit CD-ROM is a members-only product that is available free to all new SkillsActive members. Membership of SkillsActive is available to organisations from £25. Alternatively it can be purchased separately for £40 + P&P.
